Two-part workshop series: Managing Conflict During Stressful Times
Thursday, June 24, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Eastern
and
Wednesday, July 14, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern*
Welcome to the event registration page for our two-part online workshop series presented by Christine Burych, founder of Starlingbrook Leadership.
Christine is a leadership consultant and executive coach who has helped more than 11,000 senior leaders get past their blind spots, improve mental resilience, and grow their leadership presence.
Christine started her working life as a frontline community mental health worker. She has held senior positions in HR and organizational development and has assisted and led families, community members, volunteers, employees, and executives across various sectors.
Please do your best to attend both sessions: the first on June 24 and the second on July 14. Between the two sessions, participants will meet with peers in small coaching groups to discuss and practice the tools learned and get feedback. (You will be allowed to attend just one but you'll miss important content and it may be difficult to form the coaching groups.) We are unable to record the sessions for replay.
Sessions are free for OMGMA members. Non-member managers are welcome at a cost of $45 +HST (includes both sessions and placement in a peer coaching group).
Session 1 of 2
THURSDAY JUNE 24, 2021
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Eastern
Pressure, deadlines, change, chaos, shrinking budgets. These were in your workplace before the pandemic started; now you face the addition of everything from safety and health risks to resentment and perceived unfairness.
Leaders are supporting more than just tasks and deliverables when emotions run high.
In this workshop, we'll start by getting ourselves in a resourceful space – both mentally and emotionally. Session 1 is all about you understanding your motivational values and how, when compromised, we move into conflict.
And when in conflict, it’s much harder to support others.
Session 2 of 2
WEDNESDAY, JULY 14, 2021
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern*
Session 2 is about how to manage conflict for others. You will learn tools and practical strategies to help you have conversations to mitigate the fallout from conflict. The group will have an opportunity to practice the tools in small group simulations.
Overall learning objectives:
1. Become aware of your motivational values
2. Understand triggers related to those values and our default behaviours
3. Learn how to regulate emotions to lead effectively
4. Understand how others handle conflict
5. Improve how you lead others through conflict
6. Practice the coaching tools
The workshops are experiential and involve a high level of participation, including in breakout groups. Each participant should work from their own computer.
*The July 14th workshop will be followed by an "insider info" session with our generous Event Partner:
Hugo Jeffrey will share the latest news on product supply and shortages.
